It is with great sorrow to relate the recent passing of Mrs. Biranit Cohen, a”h, Biranit Tova bas Ephraim Mordechai HaKohen, who passed away on 7 Teves 5786.
For over 20 years, Biranit devoted extraordinary effort and care to helping consumers keep kosher. She served as the front line for the cRc, answering consumer phone calls with patience, warmth, and sincerity, and responding to hundreds of emails to help people navigate and find reliable kosher options.
She managed our social media presence with thoughtfulness and consistency, providing timely, engaging, and informative updates to the community. Biranit also oversaw our popular Pesach Guide, investing tremendous time and attention into producing a resource that was both beautiful and helpful. In addition, she supported many facets of the Kashrus Department, including foodservice and catering companies, and managed the Kashrus website and numerous consumer lists.
Her dedication, professionalism, and quiet commitment to the community will be deeply missed.
There will be a shloshim this coming Thursday evening (January 29th) at 8pm Central Time at Cong. Ohev Shalom (https://ohev.com ) in Dallas, TX and a zoom link has been made available for all those that would like to participate:
