Geirut – Conversion to Judaism
The conversion process is one that will transform your entire life, from the most minute details to the largest aspects, including where you live, what you eat, how you dress, and how you act. It will affect your work life, your social life, and your family life. Every action that you take and every move you make will be for the sake of Heaven.
Before embarking upon this life-changing journey, you need to know what it involves. The first step, therefore, is education. You need to have or create a connection with a local Orthodox Rabbi, who will be your mentor and guide throughout this process. He will educate you in the Jewish way of living and the laws of the Torah. Once you and your Rabbi are confident in your knowledge and commitment to Torah and Jewish life, you are ready to come before the Beth Din.
When learning with your Rabbi, he will explain to you the necessary procedures of conversion. For the cRc, this will include reading a list of books and multiple meetings with the Beth Din, which will help the Beth Din determine determine whether or not they will approve the conversion.
